Lynwood Unified came alive with creativity and culture during the District’s 12th Annual Arts Festival on April 25, where students, families and staff gathered for a vibrant celebration of the arts that showcased students’ talents and imagination.

The festival opened with a series of performances featuring dance teams from Will Rogers and Abbott elementary schools, Hosler Middle School and Firebaugh and Lynwood high schools, followed by a performance of Beetlejuice Jr. by Firebaugh High’s drama students.

LevelUp Lynwood Folklórico and Mariachi students also brought culture and movement to the stage, showcasing the vibrant traditions they learned in the elementary school after-school programs. Their performances highlighted both artistic talent and a strong sense of cultural pride.

Students further explored their creativity through interactive stations, creating paper puppets, painting original artwork and designing jewelry in hands-on activities that encouraged self-expression and innovation.

Attendees also enjoyed food booths supporting school programs, while middle and high school bands performed musical sets featuring both soloists and full ensembles.

“This is my fourth Arts Festival we’ve performed at, and there are so many things to do and different booths,” Lynwood High School senior and jazz band member Yordi Sosa said. “What I really liked most is seeing how everyone comes together as a city to celebrate together at the arts festival.”

At Lynwood Unified, events like the Arts Festival reflect a deep commitment to fostering creativity, celebrating culture and elevating student voice. Through robust visual and performing arts programs and meaningful opportunities to showcase their talents, students are empowered to express themselves, build confidence and connect with their community.
