Principal's Message

My name is Kevin Cano, and I am honored to serve as principal of Abbott Elementary School. 

At Abbott, we believe in not only prioritizing academic achievement but also personal and mental well-being. Our dedicated on-site specialists support teacher instruction, student personal growth, and community outreach programs.

Our office staff prides in providing exceptional service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for students and parents. Many of our teaching staff hold advanced or specialized degrees and annually participate in professional development opportunities.

Data from the 2024 Smarter Balanced Assessment System (SBAC) showed a 10% growth in Language Arts and 6% growth in Mathematics. This is a testament to the hard work done by our teachers and the growth mindset of our students. 

We have established partnerships with Turnaround Arts, PS Arts, The Music Center and are currently working with the Tree People on a campus beautification project. 

As a Platinum PBIS school for two consecutive years – reinforcing positive behavioral interventions and supports – our students know they are valued and are contributing members to their school culture. 

At Abbott Elementary our motto is DASH - Do our best. Act responsibly. Show respect. Have high expectations. Together, we will have a wonderful 2024-25 academic year.
